Trijntje Oosterhuis, Candy Dulfer and Shirma Rouse can also be heard on Jennie Lena sings Michael Jackson. This year, a long-cherished dream comes true for Jennie Lena: A new album called ‘Jennie Lena sings Michael Jackson’, on which she collaborated in the USA with a number of former musicians of the late King of Pop. Tony Newton, the bassist of the Jackson Five, Sylvester Rivers, the keyboardist who often toured with The Jacksons in the early 80s. Perhaps the most famous is guitarist Jennifer Batten, the woman with the big blonde hair who played with Michael Jackson on all three of his major world tours from 1987 to 1997. This album is an ode to Michael and brings Jennie to life in her own unique way. It has been known for some time that Jackson’s repertoire is tailor-made for her. Jennie sang the track ‘Who’s loving you’ by the Jackson Five a few years ago in The Voice of Holland and has now been viewed more than 50 million times on YouTube. The 15 songs on the album were partly recorded in the USA and partly in the Netherlands. Lena produced the songs together with producer Patrick Drabe. Jennie: “You obviously shouldn’t try to imitate Michael’s songs, so I gave the album my own flavor and also did it vocally in my own way.”
